Three outstanding mathletes from Eduardo Barretto Sr. Integrated School (EBSIS) achieved remarkable success at the Fermat Mathematical Olympiad (FMO) Final Round held in Da Nang, Vietnam, from January 10-13, 2025. The competition gathered young mathematical talents from twelve countries, including the Philippines, Indonesia, India, Thailand, Bulgaria, Hong Kong-Macau, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Cambodia, Malaysia, Kyrgyzstan, and Vietnam.
Charles Angelo Habana from Grade 8-Sage earned a silver medal under the Secondary 2 category, showcasing his exceptional analytical skills. Chrysler Lorraine Maulit from Grade 9-Atlas and Jonnavie Plaza from Grade 12-Masutakas both secured bronze medals, further demonstrating EBSIS's excellence in mathematics.
The team was guided and supported by their dedicated coaches, Mr. Jeruel Canceran and Ms. Irish Bernadette M. Lutino, along with their Head Teacher, Mr. Bryan Anthony O. Sario, who accompanied them during the event.
The FMO, organized by Fermat Education, is an annual competition open to students from Kindergarten to high school. Unlike other Olympiads requiring complex calculations and formulas, FMO emphasizes students' abilities to read, understand, and analyze mathematical problems critically. The EBSIS community proudly celebrates the success of its mathletes and their continued pursuit of mathematical excellence on the global stage.
