Labog assumes   presidency post

           John Henry Labog from grade 10 – Molave was elected as President of Mathematrix Club for school year 2021-2022, Oct. 18.

           Labog is consistent mathlete from grade 7 up to now. He is one of the school representatives in various mathematics competitions inside and outside the country. In fact, he won bronze medal in last concluded International Vedic Mathematics Olympiad (IVMO) held last September 11. He also won two merit prize award in 1st Math-Inic Vedic Math National Challenge (MVMNC) and 2nd Philippine National Vedic Math Olympiad (PNVMO) held last June 24 and August 14, 2021 respectively.

Other officers were Ronel R. Bautista (G10), vice-president; Allyssa Carla M. Cedeño (G10), secretary; Clarice Jane C. Barrios (G10), treasurer; Maricar M. Amparo (G10), auditor; Nicole A. Ramos (G8), public information officer; Christan C. Gutierrez (G10), business manager; Jamelou Guidulo, grade 10 representative; Jamaica R. Desalet, grade 9 representative and Valerie C. Urbaneja, grade 8 representative.

The election was spearheaded by Mrs. Iris Bernadette M. Lutino, adviser of Mathematics Club for the school year 2021-2022 via zoom.

 


SARIO accredited as Philippines’ coordinator

           Mr. Bryan Anthony O. Sario was accredited by the United Kingdom’s Institute for the Advancement of Vedic Mathematics as one of the Philippine Region’s Coordinator for the 1st ever International Vedic Math Olympiad held last September11.

           Vedic Mathematics is a system of mathematics which was discovered by Indian mathematician. It is a collection of techniques to solve mathematical arithmetic easy and faster way. It can be used for problems involved in arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, and conics.

Sario attended series of webinars of vedic math and later he was accredited first as one of the regional Vedic Math Coordinator by the Math-Inic Philippines for Center 51 located at Calamba City. He also participated and won merit award in the 2nd Philippine Vedic Math Challenge in an open category. Mr. Sario shows dedication and enthusiasm in Vedic mathematics, and it leads to his accreditation as one of the facilitators of the International and National Vedic Math Olympiad.

EBSNHS Mathletes bag awards in

 International Vedic Math Olympiad


           Eduardo Barretto Sr. NHS mathletes bagged four (4) major awards in the recent concluded 1st International Vedic Math Olympiad last September 11, via online.

           International Vedic Math Olympiad (IVMO 2021) is a new world-wide competition, aimed at testing Vedic Math skills, speed of mind and mathematical acumen. There were five levels of entry, Primary, Junior, Intermediate, Senior and Open and the total number of participants was 466 coming from nine countries.

  Ronel R. Bautista from Grade 10 -Katmon won gold medal and rank 6th worldwide under the intermediate category. He got 64 points out of 100. On the other hand, John Henry V. Labog from Grade 10-Molave, bagged bronze medal and rank 51st worldwide with the total score of 34 points.

Meanwhile on the Junior Category, Keneth John Zuniga from Grade 8 – Zamora won silver medal and rank 30th worldwide with the total score of 56 out of 100. And from Grade 8 – Rizal, Miguel Angelo Alladel bagged bronze medal and rank 40th worldwide with the score of 50.

  Other participants were Sean Rein Roxas and Allysa Carla Cedeño from grade 10 rank 62nd and 71st respectively under intermediate category.

  Each Olympiad consisted of 50 multiple choice questions which were to be answered within one hour. The competition was run through Regional Centres with competitors registering with Regional Coordinators. The coordinators were also largely responsible for providing lessons in the Vedic Maths techniques

  In this year’s IVMO, participants came from Japan, Philippines, Hong Kong, Malaysia, India, Italy, Netherlands, Great Britain and the USA. Entries numbers were Primary – 207, Junior - 119, Intermediate – 89, Senior – 24 and Open – 27.

EBSNHS Mathletes reap

8 laurels in 2nd PNVMO

 

           Eduardo Barretto Sr. NHS mathletes harvested eight awards in the 2nd Philippine National Vedic Math Olympiad (PNVMO) last August 14.

           MVMNC is a national competition that tests ability and speed in using Vedic mathematical techniques and their application in problem solving. There are four levels for the Olympiad: Primary, Junior, Intermediate and Senior. It is also the second stage in joining International Vedic Mathematics Olympiad (IVMO).

Miguel Angelo Alladel of grade 8- Rizal bagged silver medal for Junior Category. Alladel also won silver medal last 1st Math-Inic Vedic Mathematics National Challenge last June. Two more mathletes from grade 7 won a bronze medal, they were Hannah Ces Merto and Kenneth John Zuniga under junior category also.

Another bronze medalist, won by Ronel Bautista under the intermediate category. Bautista won gold medal in the previous vedic competition and ranks 2nd nationwide last June. Three mathletes won merit awards under intermediate category, they were John Henry Labog, Sean Rein Roxas and Allyssa Carla Cedeno.

Mr. Bryan Anthony O. Sario, the head trainer of the students also won a merit award under the open category. Open category is open to all ages and everyone can join in the said category.

The head coach of team EBSNHS was Mrs. Victorina D. Palanas, Head Teacher III of Mathematics department. And the grade level coaches were Ms. Joan D. Saavedra for grade 7, Mr. Nimrod D. Poblete for grade 8, Ms. Maribith D. Gersin for grade 9 and Mrs. Arleen B. Perez for grade 10.

“It is a great start for this school year in Math Department. Talagang mararamdaman mo yung kahandaan ng mga Math teachers sa tungkulin nilang maghatid ng quality education. I am praying and hoping na mas marami pa kaming competitions na masalihan at maipanalo even we are still facing the pandemic.”  Mrs. Palanas said during the interview.
